Y-Mind Teen - Learn to Cope With Stress

Learn to Cope with Stress & Anxiety - Y-Mind for Youth happening this summer!

Free for Youth ages 13 to 18 who are experiencing mild-to-moderate anxiety or stress, the YMCA's Y Mind Teen program can help. Lunch will be provided at each session.

Program runs July 8 - August 19 from 1:00-2:30pm and will take place at the Youth Space in Bakerview Park.

This free seven-week mental wellness program is delivered across Canada and Alex House Youth Workers are excited to offer this program in South Surrey/White Rock this summer.

Program Details:

  • Free, seven-week program for youth experiencing mild-to-moderate anxiety or stress.

  • Learn proven coping skills and meet peers who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings.

  • Each session is 1.5 hours long and is offered one evening a week, for seven weeks.

Join us on Tuesdays in July & August starting July 8th from 3-5pm for brave new adventures.

Positively Parenting Series

Thursdays April 3-24 from 6:30-8pm

FREE and open to parents & caregivers of children and youth of all ages. It will take place ONLINE using Teams.

This series covers many topics of parenting including connection, communication, big feelings, learning about the brain, making sense of behaviours, problem solving together, repair when things go sideways and much more.

Youth Gathering for Change

Youth Gathering for Change

YOUTH GATHERING FOR CHANGE. Reclaim your story. It matters.

This FREE event is for IBPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, low-income and newcomer youth ages 14-18 to have a chance to learn more about how colonialism and discrimination in history and presently shapes our cultural and self-identities. Using hands-on activities, we will also discuss strategies for bridging gaps in understanding and tools for fostering resilience and empowerment.  

There will be food, an activity along the beach, and participants will all receive a gift for their participation. Transit passes are also available.

This is a one-day event held Wednesday March 19 from 9:30am-3:30pm at Camp Alex in Crescent Beach.

Lit Café

Lit Café

Lit Café is our popular, long-running series of readings by local authors and poets. Built around a theme or genre, the Cafés are a quarterly event (usually scheduled for Monday evenings) and feature between four and five presenters. The evenings include a Q&A session with the audience and an open mic. Refreshments are provided and donations are welcomed to help offset the cost.
